Sharing some time and space with clients I work with is a very personal and wonderful experience. Here are a few stories that were inspiring this year.
Kim and Ed…this was so fun! He proposed during the eclipse and it was so romantic. I was privileged to view the video. It was a surprise and when I met him he was so thrilled about finding the woman he had been waiting for. Their enthusiasm and giddiness about their rings and getting married was such a delight and as it turns out he wanted a ring that matched hers. So I created the masculine version of the Large Curve Diamond side for him. His has diamonds, hers has orange sapphires. The two of them together light up the room.
Kathy shared with me the story of her mother. She shared family pictures and a tale of the great love her mother and father shared. It was so special that she brought her mother’s guard ring to me after her mother passed and had me redesign it into a pendant which she could wear. It combined the design of the original ring into a contemporary pendant more of her taste.
This is my second project with Laurie. This unusual conch pearl was such a challenge and a reward! It was truly a treat to work with such a rare gem. When she gave it to me it was in a ring surrounded by pink tourmaline. We removed the pearl and created a pendant which she could wear daily. I originally designed an ellipse with an open back but somehow it did not work well. The pearl itself is a bit lopsided, very unlike the round cultured pearls we usually see. So taking her ideas combined with the love of our power ring design, we mirrored the back and and set the pearl in nearly invisible prongs. This created the illusion that the pearl was floating. Laurie was amazingly patient and understanding as we went through the process of trial and error. Her pearl has found a new home in rose gold.
