As a follow up to last month’s article, we want to focus on how you can make your wedding different and possibly set new traditions. More and more, what are considered acceptable wedding practices are giving way to a wider range of creativity and freedom. Here are just a few we have heard from our friends and clients.
‘Tis the wedding season and we are not kidding. We are attending 4 weddings within a 6 week period. A neon blue colored stone that literally looks like the turquoise waters of the Bahama’s (even though I have never been there) or “swimming pool blue” (if you have never been there either) is a “paraiba tourmaline”. We had several people coming to our booth at the Contemporary Craft Market inquiring for such a stone. A few years ago no one had even heard of this unusual and rare gem.
If you have never been, it is an opportunity to meet artists from across the nation, working in various mediums such as glass work, ceramics, sculpture, clothing and accessories. The artists have all undergone a rigorous screening process to qualify as participants in this show and CCM is proud to showcase them. GIA recently announced the introduction of its new Diamond Cut Grading System for round brilliant diamonds. Over the course of a fifteen-year research project, GIA researchers performed extensive computer modeling of round brilliant diamonds and conducted more than 70,000 observations on actual stones to validate the science. This system can now predict the cut grade for more than 38.5 million proportion sets. The result is a comprehensive Cut Grading System that accurately reflects all the critical cut factors of a round brilliant diamond.
