The Brewery Arts Complex, located just down the street from Chinatown and the San Antonio winery, is the world’s largest live-work artist colony. It consists of 22 buildings on 23 acres, some of the buildings dating back to 1888. Converted from the Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery into an artist colony in the 1980’s, the Brewery is also where our studio is located.
Being in such a unique setting has allowed me to meet many artists and to see their varied types of art and design. There are several art galleries located on the complex as well, such as RAID, ArtCore and the MLA Gallery. Bi-annually the Brewery residents hold an Artwalk where they open up their studios so visitors can see their work and get a glimpse at what goes on behind the scenes. It has a bit of an industrial feeling but the people are as friendly as they come, so stop on by!
Next Art Walk will be October 9 & 10th 11-6pm.
