Now that we’re halfway through July, I guess I should address its birthstone. In case you weren’t aware, it’s the ruby which comes from the same family as sapphires but when it’s red, it’s a ruby. Mined mainly from Myanmar, rubies come in all shades from light pink to deep blood-red. The price of rubies is based largely on the color and clarity, the more “true red” it is, the more valuable the stone. The most valuable rubies are said to be “pigeon blood-red.” As legend has it, rubies bring their wearers wisdom, love, and protect them against bad luck. I’ll go along with that and add that modern jewelry pieces with rubies also make their wearers look fantastic!
Have an infinitely modern day!
