2011 marks the 25th anniversary for the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month organization. Their slogan for the year was, “Celebrating 25 years of Awareness, Education and Empowerment.” My favorite part of that has the be the empowerment. It’s no secret I am a fan and supporter of women being independent, strong and able to follow their dreams.
Empowerment is the one word equivalent of all that. I am so grateful the the NBCAM and others like them for their support of women everywhere. It’s true their main focus is on breast cancer but consider what an inspiration that is. To all of us who know someone who has, had or was lost to breast cancer; doesn’t her struggle inspire you to do more and be more in honor of her?
Breast cancer awareness is not only a tool against breast cancer, to me it seems to generally be a tool against settling for less in a lot of areas. Whether you’ve fought breast cancer or even if you personally have not, don’t let anything take away your dreams.
Do not settle, do not give in, be Empowered.
Have an infinitely modern day!
